Do you ever feel stuck in life?

Like you feel unhappy, but you’re not really sure why you’re not happy? Maybe you feel like you don’t know yourself? Your purpose in life feels unclear. You’re questioning if you still want what you thought you wanted?

A great thing to do when you feel stuck is to journal. And this is not the kind of journaling where you write out what happened during the day. That’s not gonna help so much for this kind of a dilemma.

Because you’re journaling in order to find yourself, to feel something, to be inspired, you’re going to want to use some journaling prompts (which I’m about to give you). Reflecting on specific aspects of your life can often bring awareness.

A Week of Journaling Prompts for When You Feel Stuck In Life:

1. Who is someone you admire and why?

2. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up, and why?

3. What are the three biggest events which have shaped your life, and how did they impact you?

4. Make a list of your favorites: food, beverage, book, movie, tv show, color, scent, city to visit, clothing brand, song, singer/band/artist, leisure activity, stone/gem, flower, animal, (and anything else you want to add). How has this list changed over the past 10 years? Why do you think this is?

5. What is something you are good at? Describe how that makes you feel. What is something you are bad at? What are your thoughts about this? What is something you are mediocre at? What’s your opinion on this?

6. What are the three most important values in your life? How did they become important to you? How do you continue to live by them?

7. If your fairy godmother could wave her wand so everything was better tomorrow, what would tomorrow look like? What would be different?

If you are “feeling stuck”, journaling on your own and talking about it in counseling is a great way to bring clarity in your life. The prompts above can each be a focus for a whole counseling session and lead you to feel more passion, hope, and excitement for life.
